formulagic

what is it?

this plug will blow your mind. it can achieve almost any effect that any other pixel-pusher effect can do. and it can do even more. there is no plug available that allows more control over each pixel short of firing up your own development system (it is also the plug we use to test some effects before we implement them).

formulagic allows you to define your own formula for each channel (red, green, blue and alpha). in your formula you have not only access to most standard functions (such as sine, cosine, tangents, etc.) but also to run-time variables such as the pixel's current red, green, blue, alpha, x, and y position.

you even have access to some clip-related variables such as current frame index and maximum frame number.

we are also building a collection of cool formulas for you to try out - and whenever you come up with a great effect you want to share, simply send it to us - we will publish it for you.

in theory, this is the only color enhancement plug you'll ever need. in practice, though, this plug has a severe limitation: speed. that's where we come in. if you have devised an effect that you need to apply to many clips, you can send this formula to us, and we can create a custom plug just for you. please see our services section for details.

what should i use it for?

this plug can do any color / transparency effect you can think of - and then some.

features

area of effect :

define the area of the clip you want to be affected by the plug-in. all other parts or the clip remain untouched.

red=, green=, blue=, alpha=:

for each channel, define a formula that should be applied to the pixel. this formula will be applied to every pixel in every frame that is inside the area of effect.

red, green, blue, alpha (checkboxes)

these checkboxes tell the plug that you want it to use the formula for this particular channel. if you uncheck this box, the channel will remain unchanged.
